The Legacy Senior Residences, 413 N. Linden St. Fort Collins, Colorado Phone 970-221-0212
Construction
will begin soon on the Legacy Senior Residences in Fort Collins Colorado.
This 72 unit community will provide housing for seniors who earn less than 60%
of the area median income. The legacy is an independent living community
designed with accessibility and ease of use for its residents. The Legacy
will feature one and two bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens,
laundry equipment is provided in each apartment, and the gas heat and
electricity is paid.
The building includes elevators, wide hallways for easy access and handrails in the common areas. There will be many common areas where residents can visit and enjoy the company of neighbors. For those that relish the outdoors there are large covered patios that wrap around the first floor and lush native landscaping is being placed around the many walkways meandering around the grounds.
We anticipate opening in January 2014.

Just
south of downtown Colorado Springs lies a hidden gem for senior citizens, the
Lowell Neighborhood in the heart of Colorado Springs. This successful
redevelopment will bring you back to a time when the streets were tree lined,
where families walk to work or shop rather than driving, where neighborhood
streets were full of friends and activity.
If you are in the know, you may have heard about this area now brimming with
high-end luxury loft condos, upscale townhomes where you can “live above the
shop” and enjoy the mountain view. The friendly merchants and store owners will
actually know your name when you drop by. You may also have come to know about
the high price tag that goes along with these prestigious residences. What you
might not know is that there is also affordable housing for seniors in this
newly revitalized community.
This 58-acre site was designed to be pedestrian and senior friendly; sidewalks
are on average a foot wider, with large curb cuts, the streets are narrower with
reduced speed limits to accommodate those with mobility challenges. Senior
residents will enjoy several community parks, a central piazza and promenade
that provide easy access to businesses and a multitude of restaurants. Common
areas are landscaped, and strategically placed public buildings, and service
areas help foster increased interaction among residents.
The cornerstone of this development was the restoration of the Lowell Elementary
School, built in 1891, now home to the Housing Authority of the City of Colorado
Springs. As an integral part of this community, the Housing Authority is acutely
aware of the need for affordable senior housing and extended their support to
developers who have committed a portion of the Lowell Neighborhood to meeting
the housing needs of seniors.
The developers, in partnership with the Housing Authority, built Wyndam Place
Senior Residences. It has been so well received that a phase II was constructed,
both communities are for seniors aged
55 and up that earn less than the median area income. Qualifying households will
earn less than $30,840 for one person and $35,280 for two person households.
Housing vouchers available from the Housing Authority are accepted.
